Final spurt in the German soccer Bundesliga - Part 1
The 26th matchday has been played in the German Bundesliga. Borussia Dortmund was defeated in Munich in the top match. As a result, Bayern is back at the top of the table. The battle for the championship continues to be exciting. The relegation battle is just as exciting. Bochum and Hoffenheim currently have the best cards, but all teams score from time to time.
Bayern Munich tops the table again
Bayern is in first place with 55 points, followed by Dortmund with 53 points and Union Berlin with 51 points. Slightly behind is Freiburg (47 points).
Bayern’s next 3 opponents are Freiburg (A), Hoffenheim (H) and Mainz (A). The last time Bayern lost in Freiburg was on 16.05.2015. Most recently, the Munich team won 1:4 in Breisgau. Hoffenheim and Mainz, the form of the opponents will decide how difficult the Munich team will have it. In Mainz they could not win 2/3 duels.

Good opponents, but they have to be beaten to stay on top. However, if it doesn’t work out, Union has played a very good round and has a chance to grab a Champions League spot.

Bochum and Hoffenheim on the rise
Now let’s take a look at the bottom of the table: there are currently 5 teams in the relegation battle. In 14th place is Bochum (26 p), in 15th place is Hoffenheim thanks to the win in Bremen (25 p). Hertha (22 points), Schalke (21 points) and Stuttgart (20 points) are in the relegation places. It is still too early to make a forecast here, as it is only the 26th matchday. Bochum and Hoffenheim currently have the better run. Both were able to score well recently. Schalke has broken its unbeaten streak in 2023. Stuttgart currently has the worst cards, but a win would put them back in the relegation fight.
